The Boy and I took a quick trip this weekend to meet my parents and baby sis in Mesquite. Their friend was getting sealed to his family in Las Vegas and they decided to stay in Mesquite. My dad also tempted me into coming by getting tickets to see Cats at the Tuacahn Theater in St. George. If you've never been there, you MUST go! It is so awesome! I went for the first time last summer and saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with the youth for Youth Conference. They advertise the place as Broadway in the Desert and it really is! I saw Fiddler on the Roof on the real Broadway in New York and it was just as good if not better. Cats was no exception - it was wonderful! It was the first musical I've seen where everything is sung - there was no dialogue amongst the characters. The actors were wonderful and a lot of them really moved like real cats - that was kind of freaky!
He was an angel baby the whole trip. We left from the OC around 10:45 and stopped in Barstow for food and a quick feed and I stopped again in Primm for gas, a run into the Children's Place Outlet, and to feed the little guy. We made it to Mesquite around 5:30 - unloaded at the motel - and headed up to St. George with my family. So, he was in the car pretty much all day and had only taken his morning nap, but he was happy has could be. He watched the show off and on and flirted with the ladies that sat behind us. They were totally in love with him and he enjoyed that:) He only got a little dicey about 10 minutes from the end of the show and I just took him up a couple of rows so he could wiggle and jump without bothering everyone else. He slept on the way back to Mesquite, let me feed him, and went down without protest. He did get up the next day at 6:30, but I just put him in bed with his auntie and I, and then he slept until 7:15.
On Saturday we drove to Las Vegas and hung out there during the afternoon before the sealing. He got a little fussy after we'd been in Vegas for a couple of hours, but we figured out he was constipated and so I can't blame the poor guy. Once we got that all "out" he was his happy self again. After the sealing we went over to oure friend's house and he was obviously very tired and not up to putting on one of his shows, so we cut out around 10:00 to go back to Mesquite. He stayed awake the entire way and enjoyed some ice cream from McDonald's when we got back to Mesquite. Then, I fed him and he again went down without protest. This time he slept until after 7:00 - I'm not sure exactly when he got up because my dad got him and I kept sleeping.
The trip home was a little tougher for my little guy than the trip to Mesquite. He fussed more, but he never got really sad. Around Rancho Cucamonga I turned off the DVD player (which was a lifesaver for most of the trip) and turned on my Carpenters CD and we karaoked all the way back to the OC. He didn't sleep on the trip back, but he did take a great afternoon nap when we got home. We were worried he wouldn't go to bed on time that night because he slept so late, but he did and we were so happy.
The trip was wonderful and it was so fun to see my family! I've been really lucky because I've been about to see them about every 2-3 months since The Boy was born and I appreciate mi esposo for letting us go so that we can see them. This week we don't have any major plans. I've got aerobics on Tuesday and Thursday and a dentist's appointment tomorrow. Oh! My friend is coming into town this weekend and our mutual friend is having a BBQ, so that should be fun. Oh! And last night he signed "done"! He was eating his dinner and he was getting a little fussy. So I asked him if he wanted more and he signed more and took another bite. However, he didn't seem very happy about it. So I asked him if he wanted more or if he was done and he signed "done". Yea!
