But I am really great at updating Funky PolkaDot Giraffe and Instagram

Adventures in {Halloween 2011} Part 1

So our Halloween 2011 was full of fun and friends.
We kicked off the festivities with a
trip to Old Town Orange's Treats in the Streets.
We've been once before - and it's chaotic fun :)

We started with a trip to Bruxie for a late lunch
with Jaime and the kids.
I love that place!

The kids were in silly moods.

Then we donned our costumes and got ready for some treats.

Do you like his Big Bad Wolf face?

Don't forget Granny!

After we finished at The Circle, we were driving home,
and Jaime and I both thought of the Great Balloon!
We got off the freeway and headed to The Great Park.

We wanted to see The Big Balloon while he was
all decked out for Halloween.

We had an hour wait til the first flight,
so the kids played at the playground.

And rode the carousel.

Carousels at night are so magical.

I love it all lit up and ready for a spooky ride :)

Stay tuned for Part II . . .

October - Out with a Bang!

So, October ended in a whirlwind of activity and it was totally awesome. The October/November/December time of year is my most favorite and I totally love to run from one activity to the other. However, by the end of Halloween week I was totally pooped and vowed to take it easy this week. I have kept pretty much to my vow, but I hosted book club on Tuesday so there was lots to be done for my big party - Capitol style.

So here's a quick recap of what we were up to. (I've done a lot of posts like this lately.)

Wednesday 10/28 night - I made pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes with apple cider syrup and they were SUPER tasty! I got the recipe from my cousin on a food blog I'm a contributor to.Thursday 10/29 - The Boy had his Halloween party at school and was super excited to wear his costume. When I picked him up he told me it was the best Halloween party ever! He took a treat to share with his friends and we made Tootsie Pop Ghosts.
My apple cider doughnuts

Pictures from Treats in the Streets at the Circle

Friday 10/30 - The kids slept in monkey jammies on Thursday night and I thought they looked so cute on Friday morning I snapped a few pictures.

That night I took the kids to our Stake Trunk or Treat and The Boy made out like a bandit. His pumpkin was full and heavy. Once Will got home from work we sped up to Wtown to meet Grandma and Grandpa at their ward Halloween party. We missed the games and cake walk (sad!) but we walked in just in time for the costume contest.

The Boy and his BFF - no matchy costumes this year!

Look at my darling nephew in his Elvis costume. Rock on!
The Girl won!

Saturday 10/31 - This was a really wild day! Will had his last building cleaning that morning, so I couldn't do my long run early. Then the insurance lady came to do our work up for our policy. Then as soon as she left I took off for my 6 miler. Well, it turned into a 7 miler! AHHHHH! I was running the "Loop" because I heard it was about 5 miles and I thought it would take me about .5 to get there - nope it takes a little over a mile to get there from my house. So, 6 miles became 7 and I struggled through the last mile, but I made it home. I showered, put the kids down for a nap and relaxed. That night we went trick or treating with friends and had lots of fun.
Tomorrow I just might blog again - stay tuned :)

Halloween Party - Take I

We had our first Halloween party of the season on Saturday. We went back to W-town to our old ward to hang with family and friends. I didn't put The Boy in his costume until we got to the building, because I didn't want to make him upset before I absolutely had to. However, once he got his costume on and saw how cool he looked, he was totally fine. I finished that morning - just in the nick of time. All the way to the party he was asking if his friend Sariah was going to be there and I told him I thought so. Last year, randomly, he came as The Scarecrow and she same as Dorothy - no planning involved. This year he came as Peter Pan and she came as Tinkerbell. It was so fun! I couldn't get either of them to stand still to get a good picture, but here's my best attempt.
He was very proud of his sword.
How cute are these two?
Here's my costume this year:)

I got some other sewing done yesterday night for my Etsy shop - Funky Polkadot Giraffe. You should stop by and see the two new sets I put up and send your friends! LOL Also, my friend that does bows is back to selling! Yea! So check her out HERE to see what she's put up next. Her blog is also cool because she teaches you to make bows too. I'm going to be trying the korkers as soon as I get to the wholesale ribbon shop this week.

Darling Mary Janes - I'm actually going to try and make some!
A blingy pluggy clip - love it!

And because I can't just go to Etsy without browsing, I decided to share some of the things I added to my favorites this weekend. When I was a baby I had a baby bracelet and I'd really like to get one as a keepsake for our little girl. Obviously I will have to pick her name before we can order it, but there are 3 different styles. Which one do you like best? Vote in my poll and let me know. Obviously the cheapest one is appealing, but let me know which style you like best.

Option #1

Option #2
Option #3Enjoy your Halloween week. We are without a daddy this week as he is out of town for training, so hopefully things will roll along smoothly and happily!
