A Very Long Day

The Boy and I had a very long day today. First of all he decided to start our day at 6:15. Can you believe that? He has been doing so well and sleeping until 7:00 if not 7:30, but today he was up at 6:15. Usually when he get does get up that early I leave him in his bed until 6:45, but he was talking so nicely and sounded so cute that I had to go and get him. We got the laundry started - because Tuesday is our machine time at the house - and played on the floor for a while. Then, because he got up so early, he wanted to take his nap early. That normally wouldn't be a problem, but today it meant that he would be sleeping right when I was supposed to be going to my first day of ward aerobics at the church building. Luckily, my in-laws were home and so they "listened" for him while I was off to aerobics. It was a fun, but tough, aerobics class. Our instructor is the cutest lady in our ward that is in total Triathalon shape, so when it came to the toning portion I thought I was going to die. She told us that our ab workout will get progressively harder and that today's was just "hard". I would say it today's was brutal, but that was just me.

When I got home from aerobics The Boy was already up and had only slept 45 minutes - not long enough for a morning nap - so I knew the afternoon could get rough. I continued doing laundry and we played with grandma and grandpa for a while and I must admit that I didn't get much else done around the house even though I should have because I have company staying here with mi esposo while I am gone to meet my parents in Mesquite for the weekend. I also realized that Halloween is creeping ever closer and I still have not even cut his costume out. So, my MIL told me to come down during The Boy's afternoon nap. He was pretty happy all afternoon and we had a good time eating lunch and hanging out and he even went down really well - he didn't put up too much of a fight. So with him safely down I snuck downstairs to get the costume cut out. I don't know if I am cut out (ha!) for sewing, but I am going to give it my best effort. I would really like to be one of those people that can just whip out something - no problem - but I know that is going to take practice on my part. About 50 minutes into his nap The Boy wakes up, so I run upstairs to pat him back to sleep so he'll stay down for another 30 minutes. It works and he sleeps for almost an hour and a half. However, he is up at 2:30 and that is earlier than he is used to and that means there are 5 hours until the bedtime routine starts.

I continued doing the laundry - will it ever end!!!!! And I got the bright idea to scrub the kitchen floor after I made the pizza dough for dinner. That was a good idea at the time, but The Boy thought it was a bad idea about halfway through. Explain to me why he's less than 5 feet away from me, but that isn't good enough and he has to scream through me scrubbing the last half of the floor. ::sigh:: At first it was a game, with him just hollering at me for attention, but after about 5 minutes of that he started crying for real and by the time I finished the floor he was pretty worked up. He calmed down pretty quickly and I got him some dinner and he was content. So I turned a Little Einsteins show on and got busy on rolling out the pizza dough and doing the dishes.

When mi esposo walked in the door - late today - I threw the pizza in the oven and headed out the door over to the RS Prez's house to pick up her closet keys so that I can get the tablecloths and pitchers out tomorrow for YW in Excellence. double ::sigh:: I get home and mi esposo has the bath drawn and ready to go. So we wolf down the pizza and get the little guy bathed, dressed, and fed. He is down and asleep by 8:30, but my day is not done. I have one more load of laundry to do and we have to go out into the dreaded storage shed to get my box of fall decorations - again for YW in Excellence tomorrow.

So we leave the monitor with the BIL and take the MIL and FIL out to the shed to see if we can - by some struck of luck - pick out the box with the decorations without pulling the boat and the washer and dryer machines out that are blocking the majority of my school boxes. So I monkey climb up on top of the washing machine and hope that the box I am looking for is marked correctly and is not hidden behind the giant appliances. And oh joy! It is the first box that I open and it is marked correctly. Everyone was relieved - especially the pessimistic esposo - and we head back into the house with only 5 minutes lost.

Now it is 10:01 and I am ready for bed, however I still have to put the last load of laundry in the dryer. Cest la vie!
