I realized that since we left for vacation right after Hero Camp that I didn't get to post about the wonderful week. So here's a little picture share with narration.
Monday- Feel the Joy of His Love
For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son . . ." (John 3:16)
It's Christmas! We feel joy as we understand that Jesus came to Earth because he loves us all. Feeling God's love and loving like Him brings joy. Today's Hero is Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary loved her son, Jesus, as all mothers love their children. Mary also showed love for all the world by giving us her Son, just as Heavenly Father did. She knew the joy of love.
The Boy loved Mary! A friend in our ward played Mary and she has a GORGEOUS voice. She sang a song and The Boy was enthralled with her. When he got his Hero Camp Scrapbook he opened up to the page and said, "Mom, let me show you Mary!"
Tuesday - Feel the Joy of Learning
Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. (Doctrine & Convenants 18:10) Story time! We will have a pajama party and learn the stories of Jesus' ministry. Learning from Him brings joy. Today's hero is the shepherd with the lost sheep. He left his ninety and nine sheep to go after the one that was lost. His story shows us that everyone is of worth to our Heavenly Father and our Savior. We can learn about the worth of souls through the teachings of Jesus Christ.
This is the day that I volunteered. I helped my friend help the kids decorate pillowcases. The Boy had a hard time today because I was there and he wanted to hang out with me when I was in the same room. He couldn't figure out why other people were in charge of him while I was in the same room.
Wednesday - Feel the Joy of Serving
And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God. (Mosiah 2:17)
We will learn about the joy of serving like Him as we celebrate Easter and learn about His important serice to us in the atonement and His resurrection.
Today's heroine is Mary Magdalene. She was a first-hand witness to the joy the Savior brought to those he served. She saw Christ perform many miracles. She loved Christ and was with him throughout his ministry and death. She was also the first to see him in his resurrected state after his deth. She knew without a doubt that He lives!
The most exciting part of today for The Boy was seeing the Easter Bunny at the end. My friend was with his group today and she caught some fun candids of him with her awesome camera (that I will one day have! Well not hers, but one like it).
Thursday - Joy in Following Him
. . .because Christ . . .[left] us an example, that [we] should follow his steps. (1 Peter 2:21)
We will talk about the living Christ and the joy that comes from following Him and being obedient. It will be a day full of games and fun.
Today's hero is Paul. After many years of choosing what was wrong, Paul became converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. By following in the steps of the Savior, he found joy.
When I picked him up I was shocked to find him looking like William Wallace. LOL They had a carnival today for those who chose the right and face painting was part of the fun. However, he was the only child with his entire face painted!Friday - Graduation!
Each age group performed a song they had learned all week and they all performed 2 songs together. It was awesome.
