SUMMER FAMILY FUN

Busy Bees

Well, I've discovered that keeping an 11-year-old entertained takes different tricks from my bag than keeping my 3-year-old entertained. LOL I knew that, but you don't really think about it, until you have to do it. We've loved having my little sister her with us for the past two weeks and we're going to be so sad when she flies home tomorrow morning. We've mentioned to The Boy a couple of times that she will be leaving soon and he FREAKS out. So, we'll see how tomorrow goes. Luckily he has a super fun birthday party to go to tomorrow morning that I hope I can distract him with. This is what we've been up to the past few days.July 5 - We went to church, our home teachers came over, and we went to my inlaws' house for Auntie M's birthday dinner. I also found out that my aunt and her 2 daughters were in a terrible car accident. Luckily, they escaped with minor injuries, but not so much their car.July 6 - We went to the Splash Pad today. My inlaws met us there and some friends from our ward came along. The Boy loved it and the other kids felt so/so about the squirting water. The Girl started rice cereal. She has been obsessed for the past month with everything and anything that people are putting in their mouths, so I decided it was about time. She did pretty well and I think she'll be excited for green beans next week.
After the kids went to bed, my sister and I snuck out for a girls' night at Yogurtland. Yum! They had some flavors I had tried before - rootbeer float, toasted coconut and cherry vanilla.July 7 - The Boy started swimming lessons this week and LOVES it. I love it too and I love the facility it's at. He has one more week in this session and then we're taking one session off because of family vacation and then I have him signed up for another session starting at the beginning of August. The place is awesome and he adores Miss Shelby.
It's Customer Appreciation Week at Chick Fil A, so we headed over for our free spicy chicken sandwich. Well, it was also Kids Eat Free night, so we double scored. The Boy got his face painted with SpiderMan. Awesome.
July 8 - We continued with swimming lessons today and The Boy is definitely the star of his class. LOL The other two boys don't really love the water. The Boy will dive in, try to swim on his own and just generally ham it up. Poor Miss Shelby has to remind him quite often to stay seated on his bottom when it isn't his turn. We have really lucked out with this class, because I think there are supposed to be 4 kids in the class. One girl has never come and one of the little boys has only come 2. The other 2 days it has just been The Boy and one other boy.
July 9 - Today we were lucky enough to go to Disneyland again. My little sister had a 3 day pass and the Boy and I have passes. However, our passes are blocked out and we'd have to pay $40 each to go. I REALLY didn't want to do that, but I wanted my sister to be able to get use out of her ticket. Luckily we had an awesome friend hook us up and we got to go for another day. My SIL also met us there with her friend. They kept my sister entertained while I took The Boy to swimming lessons for a little bit. We stayed until 7pm and then went home to put the kids to sleep. We were going to go back, but we were so wiped and Will came home late, so we just went to bed.
The Girl was quite the sensation in her Minnie inspired outfit. I still didn't get a very good shot of the whole ensemble.

Here is a close-up of the bow (a rather dark close-up)

Holy cow, whatever! That's it. I give up! I'm hiring you to make all my bows from now on. I'm hoping there's a bow in her birthday present tomorrow! Fingers crossed! And you are way lucky to have swimming class be so tiny and have Chik fila near you cause I wanted to go every day but it's just too far! Did you try the new peach milkshake. Oh my gosh! So good!

The girl looks ADORABLE! I blew up the picture of her eating and Franky walked over to the computer and pointed and giggled at it for like a minute. I'm getting some flippers tomorrow, so I'll let you know how that goes.
