Post from a 30 year old Woman:)

Here's my first official post as a 30 year old. Saturday was a blast! I started my day with the intentions of going over to 24 Hour and getting myself all signed up. However, I wanted to wait until The Girl woke up and I fed her. Finally, at 10:15!!! I had to wake her up so I could get myself showered. What a nutty little sweetheart. She slept from 10:30pm to 10:15am. What a nice birthday present! The Boy and Will brought me birthday bagels from Panera - YUM! and I did the opposite of getting in shape that morning.

My first party of the day was a baby shower for a friend in Cypress, so I had to get myself and The Girl ready for the day. Of course I was running behind, but I even got The Boy dressed so he'd be ready for his Grandparents' Open House later that afternoon. I was about a 1/2 hour late for the shower, but they were still eating, so that ended up working out fine.

After the baby shower (where I won a fabulous prize!) I went to W-town for my inlaws' party at her BFF's house. The Boy and Will arrived about 15 minutes later and we all had a great time visiting and playing. The Boy fell in love with their dog and he has been asking to go back her their house ever since. This morning the first words out of his mouth were, "Can we go to Grandma's BFF's house?"

That night was my AWESOME 30th Birthday Party thrown by my AWESOME "Cousin". We had so much fun! We started with some yummy hor d'oeuvres and then a super yummy Italian dinner - cheese raviolis and a creamy marinara sauce with homemade garlic bread. After dinner we played Plant the Kiss on Edward and my friends have some pretty hilarious pictures that I will post as soon as I get them. Then we watched Twilight and I have to say that I liked it a whole lot better the 2nd time around. My poor friend and her sister had never seen it or read the books and the rest of us were crazed fans, but they seemed to like it anyway.

Sunday we went to W-town for church to hear my inlaws speak and then we stayed to have my family birthday lunch. I picked Hawaiian Haystacks (shocker) and brown sundaes and they were both super yummy. I'm lucky to have married into a family of women that are wonderful cooks. My MIL makes everything super yummy! My SIL V is a whiz at dinners and meals and I've haven't had anything I didn't like. My SIL M makes tasty desserts and she tries new things and I like them all. Plus she and I are kindred caramel spirits, so ya know!

This is the SUPER FABULOUS cake my cousin made for the party.
And look at these darling suckers she made too.

Ok, everyone always makes fun of me for how HUGE my camera is. However, it's not just a regualr point and shoot camera. It's a high end, advanced digital camera and it's Canon's idea of putting SLR qualities with PS convenience. I admit that I have never read my manual (we've had it for like 6 years) and had no idea what a lot of the settings do. This weekend I ran across a thread on one of my scrapping boards about PS cameras and everyone said READ YOUR MANUAL so you know what your camera is capable of and you can take better pictures. Well, wouldn't you know, I read my manual and I figured out some cool stuff! The biggest reason I want a DSLR is to take those awesome close up pictures. Well, I have a setting that does it and look what I came up with!
The pluggy:)
And my favorite of them all!
Whenever I tried these kind of pictures before I couldn't get it to focus correctly and everything looked blurry. So, I'm going to keep playing around and make this little advanced PS of mine work until I do get my dream camera.

I know, I have a Canon as well, though very compact and I love that macro function that lets you take pictures close up. I use it all the time!

I can't believe you've never read your manual! Wait a second...it's on my nightstand...I'm only about 1/2 way through it and it's been 2 years! LOL! It's hard to force myself to read that when I have other things that beg for attention.

Love your party details! Happy Birthday, can't wait to see more pictures! Now get over to 24! I had to cancel my membership today. Sad. :(

I forgot your birthday was so close to April too. I'm glad I'm not alone in this 30th thing. I was sort of dreading it for months as well. Now that I'm here, it's really not that big a deal. Well, happy birthday to us.

I love that you think of the gals when you hear Metallica. It has the same effect on me.
