One Big Party Animal

We had a fabulous day today! We celebrated my baby's birthday with a little family party and it was so much fun. I baked the cakes last night and decorated them this morning. It was a blast making the cake. I felt like I was on the Food Network Challenge and I was working against the clock. While I was doing it, it really made me want to take a cake decorating class. I've always wanted to, but I haven't ever gotten around to do it. But I digress . . .

I have a lot of pictures to share, so I am trying to create a slideshow on the blog so that you can view them without having to post each picture individually. I don't know if it will work, so you'll be able to tell by the end of this if I get it to work or not:) He was so hilarious to watch trying to eat his cake. He really liked squishing it, but was a little bit reserved when it came to putting it in his mouth. Grandpa gave him a few lessons and then he dove right in. Of course, it was only after I had put down the camera and went inside to get a knife to cut the cake for everyone else. He was also really cute while he was opening the presents. I don't have any pictures of him opening them because I was sitting with him and my husband was videoing it. Maybe I'll figure out how to get video from my camcorder onto photobucket one day. I'm sure it isn't too hard, but it will require some cords and I don't want to dig for them right now.

After his party we fed him dinner. He's really into chicken right now. That's about the only thing he wipes clean off of his tray. I've also been giving him cooked carrots for dinner and he's doing well with those also. His checkup with the pediatrician went really well - as I already posted. She talked to me about how much whole milk to give him, getting rid of the bottle (she was proud he's not hooked to one), and making sure he is eating table food. I told her she didn't need to worry about the good wth this little guy. She told him that he was beautiful and a very low maintenance little guy. She said we should keep making babies. I thought that was funny. My favorite thing she said was that his eyes looked good, ears looked good and TUMMY looked goood. He's got quite the belly. I always tell him he has my favorite belly and I rub it like buddha. He thinks that is pretty funny.

After dinner we watch 1 vs 100 and then went Christmas tree hunting. We first tried a lot over by the college, but they were way too expensive. Then we tried the high school and they were medium expensive and they didn't have any little trees. She said she would cut one to the size I wanted, but she still wanted the same price. I can understand, but no thanks. Last we headed over to the lot where we've gotten one every year since we've lived here and they didn't let us down. We should have just went there in the first place, but from the street I hadn't noticed any little trees. But as soon as we walked into the tent, there they were, on the left. So we got the tree and headed home.

We skipped the bath tonight and went straight to bed. Neither of his naps were very long today, so he was definitely ready for bed. I looked forward to this day with anticipation and it met all of my expectations. I hope he had fun too!
I told you there were a lot of pictures!!!!!
