Tradition - TRADITION!

I was attempting to make my title come across as the song from Fiddler On the Roof, but I'm not sure if I've succeeded. So, it has now become tradition at our house for Will to get home around 7:45 and for The Boy to be in his jammies so that he can watch Phineus and Ferb on The Disney Channel with his daddy. Have you seen this show? It is pretty hilarious. I want my BIL to save them all and use his awesome video splicing abilities to make me a full DVD with all the episodes on it. They are only like 10-12 minutes long, so we watch it and then The Boy is off to bed. I used to be so uptight about him being in bed at 8:00, but with Will not coming home until 7:45, there is no way I would do that. The Boy would seriously shrivel and die if he didn't get to hang with his daddy for a little bit every night. So now he's in bed by 8:30 and life is good.
Ok, I found the most awesome thing at Costco. I've always struggled to get my vegetables in during the day. It's not that I don't like veggies, I just don't know how to prepare to them, so I don't. It's that simple. So, if you have fun ways to prepare veggies, please share them here. The Boy LOVES frozen peas and green beans from the can. So he and I eat a lot of those. Well, I'm not so much a lover of frozen peas. He eats them frozen like they are popcorn. It's pretty awesome. Anyway, back to my "most awesome thing at Costco" . . . So we're in the "COLD" room at Costco and I see this yummy salad mix. So I try it out and it is so yummy! It has broccoli, red cabbage, carrots, and some other green stringy stuff in it. Then you shake on a tad bit of the dressing and toss in the nut/craisin mix, shake it up and such a yummy lunch. I'm addicted. You have to try it.
Ok, tonight I was seriously taken back to my sophomore year of high school, while watching Don't Forget the Lyrics, with three little words - Boyz II Men. ::sigh:: Who else is with me? Who else loves them? They were playing for charity and it was so fun to watch them. A crazy story for me - my sophomore year they were coming to the Quad Cities and I SOOOOOOOOOOOO wanted to see them. I was terribly enamored with Wanya - for sure! So the local radio station was giving away tickets, and of course all week I had been trying before school to win them, but to no avail. It was the day of the concert and there was one last shot. I'm dialing and dialing and when the DJ answered I thought I was going to PASS OUT! The deal was, you had to play one of their songs on a household appliance and if the DJ guessed it, then you won the tickets. Well, here is me, miss biggest fan of Boyz II Men in the city of Bettendorf, totally blanking on all their songs. I couldn't rememeber a single one. So, I'm running upstairs to my kitchen and racking my brain and the only thing that comes to mind is the one forbidden song - I'll Make Love to You! So here I am trying not to pass out, playing I'll Make Love to You on my electric can opener. It didn't sound anything like it, but the DJ guessed right. Thinking back on it, he could have said anything and if I'd just agreed, then I would have won the tickets. However, I was so in shock that I could barely keep myself upright to give him my information. I'm always so mad at the people on the radio that don't scream and get excited, but the 3 times that I've won tickets on the radio I've always been too in shock and elated to freak out.

The other part to the story is that I was the first teen in the house and my mom was very protective. Plus, I was kind of a homebody, so I never pushed the envelope or was one to galavant out on the town with my friends. So, when I won the tickets, the next hurdle was getting my mom to take me to the radio station to pick them up! When I finally got the courage up to ask her, she wanted time to think on it. However, I was like we have to do it today, because the concert is TONIGHT! She was a little miffed by that, but I could tell she could see how much it meant to me and so I got to goooooooooooooo! My friend Julie and her sister, Deb, had tickets to the concert and Deb could drive. So, I invited my BFF from school, Lena, and we caught a ride with Deb and Julie and had the night of our lives. The coolest thing of the night is when it rained when they sang End of the Road. ::sigh:: Back in the day . . . ah, yeah!
Today we had a fun playdate. So fun! I made salsa chicken in the crockpot for dinner and got some scrapping done. Life is still good:) Tomorrow is park day and hopefully I'll get a trip to the grocery store in. LOL

Funny Boyz II Men story - I thought they were okay, but would never go to a concert. LOL! Thanks for the Costco enabler...I"m making a run over there this weekend, so I've gotta try it out, now!

Julie and Debra Bell! Wow, that seems so long ago. I remember when you were BFF's, lol. Have you heard from them? Boyz II Men were good.

Whenever I hear the word "tradition," I sing that Fiddler song in my head.
