Insta Friday: August 19, 2011

Where is this month going???
We had a fun filled week and the days are flying by.

The rock candy is done!
And beautiful and yummy.

A friend passed away suddenly last week,
and his funeral was Saturday.
One bright side was that Grandma A left her mission
and came to be by her besties side during this sad time.
We took advantage of having her here.
The Girl had a successful romp in the backyard:)

We cleaned up a bit and headed with most of the A-team to Souplantation.

No pictures, please.

Monday we went to the Birthday Par-tay! at Pretend City.

It was awesome!
(more on that later)

Tuesday Jaime treated us and my "cousin" Cory to her rad water park.
We were early ::GASP::
So we kicked it on a bench.

Wednesday was our FIRST Sprinkles & beach day of this summer.
Double ::GASP::

But it was a good one!

Except for the fact that The Boy has decided that he hates sand on him.
Really? at the beach? You're freaking out because of the sand?

But it was made better with friends.

Wednesday night we went bowling with the youth from church.

The Girl only lasted 5 frames and then The Boy had to bowl for both of them.

Thursday was Chick-fil-A & John Abrams' Animal Magic!
Yes, again.
We're addicted to his humor, animals, and MAGIC!

And when I got home, Will was waiting with flowers.
Ten years, baby.
Holla!

How was your week?
Is your summer over?
Has school started?
Did you check out the first installment of
Welcome to Mommy School??

OC Foodie Fest - Holla!

I am FINALLY posting about the OC Foodie Fest.
I was lucky enough to win tickets from Roaming Hunger
(won with these pictures of the fam eating Longboards)
and Victor Caballero.
(won with a Tweet!)
I was so thrilled!
I wasn't too keen on dropping $24 to then
pay more $$$$ to eat all the yummy food.

So, Will and I went on a date -
which didn't turn out to be much of a date :)
and my friends used the other 2 tickets.

Will served his mission in Brazil for 2 years
and so he really wanted to try the food from Ta Bom.
By the time we got there after he finished up work,
the lines were INSANE!
So he hopped in line at Ta Bom
and I headed over to Oh For Sweets Sake!

This was as close as I got to our friends' truck :(
It was cra-zay!
I didn't want to take yummy goodness from those
that wouldn't otherwise have the chance,
so I skipped waiting in this line.

I found Oh for Sweets Sake and their line was totally reasonable!
Hallelujah!
I had tried the Lemon Drop when they were
at the corner of Teller in Irvine for lunch one day,
but I wanted to try the Almond Joy.

These were the trucks behind me - see the lines??

While I waited for my cupcake I pondered where to go next . . .I saw these girls walk by with extremely tasty looking fries,
so I resolved to find them.

In no time, I had my Almond Joy and red velvet (for Will)
in hand and was off to find the fries.
Will was still waiting at Ta Bom.
At this point, I don't even think he had ordered yet.

I figured out the tasty fries came from
THIS truck.
While I was in line I pondered whether or not to eat my Almond Joy.

I decided to eat it :)

The sun was out and the frosting was going limp,
so I think it was the only decision to be made.

After about 30ish minutes I got these tasty things!
They were sweet potato fries topped with Nutella and peanut butter.
Yumminess!

At this point, Will is still waiting for his food.
My hands are full so I head over to his neck of the woods
to collect my Guarana and have a seat.
Will waited, and waited and waited.

FINALLY!
He got his food.
1 hour and almost 45 minutes laters.
It was the only line he waited in.
LAME!

We were supposed to spend the day together.
Instead we spent it standing in separate lines.
We did get to eat the Brazilian food and share the fries together at the end.

It was pure yumminess!

We had coxinhas.
Heaven!

A banana pastel -
which is banana/Nutella yumminess.

After it was all over - we'd wished we'd gotten there earlier.
We wished we'd ordered more food from Ta Bom.
I wished I would've had a Longboard and tried
Red Velvet pancakes from the Buttermilk truck.
We wished we could've hung out more.
We wished the Grilled Cheese truck would've been there.

But we were still all smiles -
cuz the food we did get to try was AWESOMESPICE!

In the end, I'm so glad I got to go,
but I'm so glad I won tickets and didn't pay $24 to wait in long lines.
Holla! to Roaming Hunger and Victor Caballero!

By the time we left - around 5:30 - most of the trucks were out of a majority
(if not all) of their food and it was supposed to go to 7:00.
There were were quite a few disgruntled patrons -
I just think they didn't anticipate how WILDLY POPULAR
the Foodie Fest was going to be.

We'll see what adjustments are made for next year -
perhaps FREE admission or $5 admission.
More trucks? 2 days?
And - let's have it in November and not August.
I'm just sayin' :)

More Beach-E-ness!

Did you know that I am ChickfilA's
HUGE RAVING FAN?
Well, I am, and I have this giant ChickfilA cow to prove it :)The fantastic peeps over at CFA Marketplace & The District
had a little FB contest to share why you are their biggest raving fan.
I said:

"I'm your biggest raving fan because we adore Chick-fil-A and eat there ALL THE TIME- especially The District location - it has FANTASTIC customer service! We come to almost every single event and dress up like cows and whisper secret words and chug the Diet Lemonade like champs. When ...I ask my kids what they want for dinner they shout - CHICK-FIL-A!"

I had the coolest answer and I won the cow that my kids and little sister dubbed
Moover Chick A-team.
Love it!

We love him so much, he even went to through the drive thru with us
on Monday after a day of swimming.
On Tuesday we headed to our favorite place - Little Corona.
We grabbed a little FREE Sprinkles on the way.

The Girl was happy about her tup-tate.

How could you not be?
That's just happiness.

The free cupcake for the day was Peanut Butter and Jelly.
It was raspberry cake with peanut butter frosting.
It was pretty yummy.
Unexpected, but yummy.

That night our friends that own Longboards
had their van at K1 Racing.
My sister *HAD* to try one, so we went over to check out the scene.
The Boy knew the secret word
(*Mater* as in Tow Mater)
So he won this awesome hat.
If you love ice cream goodness,
you will *LOVE* Longboards.
You have to try them.
Follow them on Twitter and Facebook
to find out where they'll be next.

On Wednesday my friend Jaime was awesome enough
to get us into Soak City for a discount price.
Holla!
She took all the pictures for the day because
I didn't want to carry my camera around.
I guess I just need one of THESE :)

It was quite the process getting in - I seriously thought I was going to go berserk.
I'm sure Jaime thought I did :)
First, we got in line to buy tickets behind some guy
that was buying tickets for like 200 day camp kids.Srsly???
BUY THEM ONLINE!
Then, they spread those 200 day camp kids across
all three entrance lines.
SRSLY!
Then, the lines aren't moving.
We stood in line for almost an hour total just trying to get in.
The kids were freaking out.
I was freaking out.So I asked for the supervisor - in so many words :)
She was like - Does someone here have a problem?
I'm like - YEA! ME!
The line started to move after that.
On Thursday we joined the A-Team
for the Wtown Ward Beach Party.
We got there early so my little sis could do some boogie boarding.
The waves were OUT OF CONTROL!
and she was getting worked.
So they just played in the water instead.

The Girl hung out with because the water so intimidating.
Then the tide suddenly came WAY in and washed us away.
So we packed up and headed up to the fire pit.

I love the beach.
